a steel band with flavor!
Text Box: Caribbean Spice started as a youth steel drum band in 2001. Matt, Mike and Lukas played for years at gigs all around the Reading/Allentown area (and beyond!). All three went off to college and a new group was formed. I probably made a mistake not getting a new band ready to take their places, for a few years the band struggled, and eventually last summer a few members quit unexpectedly. What seemed like a disaster, ended up being the best thing for the band, as I was forced to find new members in a frantic rush. What I found was extraordinary talent, as these kids were able to learn much of the music in a matter of weeks. Suddenly we are back in business again! We have talent and a lot of energy, and we should be playing for quite a few years until their graduation! In the meantime…..if you know of any 9-12 year olds looking to play the steel drums, send them my way! I need to start grooming the next band...
